A private event venue in Bucharest

Since June 2024, the house has been operated by EKO GROUP. Your event takes place in the ground-floor salons, in the inner courtyard or in the house’s private rooms, depending on the number of guests and the format you choose. The address is in Dorobanți, Sector 1, a 7–8 minute walk from Piața Romană metro (M2).

The house at 19 Polonă Street received its building permit in 1935 for the family of Gheorghe Tătărescu, Prime Minister from 1934 to 1937 and again from 1939 to 1940. It was designed by the architects Alexandru Zaharia and Ion Giurgea, in a Mediterranean style with Neo-Romanian elements. The building is a listed historic monument (LMI B-II-m-B-19435).

Birthdays in the Prime Minister’s house

A birthday or anniversary at the villa usually begins in the main salons. This is where you will find the fireplace set into an apse and the door surrounds, the work of the sculptor Milița Petrașcu, a pupil of Brâncuși.

The format depends on the number of guests: a seated dinner or a cocktail reception in the salons, a cocktail reception in the courtyard for larger groups, or a more intimate evening in the house’s games rooms. The exact figures are in the capacity table below.

If you would like to see the house before deciding, the guided tour “Art. History. Experience.” can be booked online and runs Monday to Friday, 12:00–17:00, and Saturday and Sunday, 12:00–19:00.

Private receptions and dinners

A private dinner is served in the main salons, with premium catering, a bar and professional staff. Your dedicated event manager works out the room layout, the order of service and the programme for the evening with you.

The salons and the courtyard can be combined in a single evening: the welcome reception in one space, dinner in the other.

A private evening usually follows the same pattern: guests are welcomed with a drink in the salons, dinner follows, and the evening then continues in the courtyard or in the house’s games rooms. You decide the order, and the event manager keeps to it.

Private parties in the salons and the courtyard

The U-shaped inner courtyard is the most generous space in the house: high tables, wrought-iron furniture, statues and plants. It can hold a party of up to 150 guests, with high-speed Wi-Fi available outdoors as well.

Indoors, the party keeps to the scale of the house: interwar salons, 6 toilets. For speeches or a video presentation, there is a 4K audio-visual system, screens with screen sharing and wireless microphones.

Private evenings: Cigar Lounge, poker and Black Jack

For small groups, the house has three rooms where the evening takes on a different character.

• Cigar Lounge — a cigar salon for 4–12 people, available from 18:00 by reservation.
• The Secret Poker Room — a card table for 8–10 players, in a room that takes up to 12 people.
• The Black Jack Room — the house’s second games room.

At the poker and Black Jack tables, the games are social games, played without stakes. Both formats suit a birthday among close friends or the close of a dinner.

The setting: works from the Rădulescu Art Galleries collection

Events take place among works from the collection of the Rădulescu Art Galleries — more than 15,000 pieces, from the 17th to the 20th century.

What shapes the quote

Rates are on request. The proposal is built around five elements: the date, the number of guests, the format you choose (dinner, cocktail reception, private evening), the menu and the length of the event. A dinner for 30 guests and a cocktail reception for 150 in the courtyard are two different events, with different teams and different preparation, so each quote is drawn up individually.

The date remains the first point of discussion: the villa is booked on a private-event basis, and the format is chosen according to the date and the number of guests. The capacity of each room is listed on the spaces page.
