A private poker room in Bucharest

The Secret Poker Room is Vila Tătărescu's private poker room, at 19 Polonă Street, Sector 1, Bucharest. It is one of the house's secluded rooms and is booked separately, for a single group.

The room holds the house's games table. The door closes and the rest of the house stays on the other side. That is the premise of a private poker evening: one group, one room, no audience.

What your poker evening includes

On the house:

• two bottles of Macallan;
• two cigars;
• coffee.

The evening is planned with your dedicated event manager: the time play begins, the breaks, the moment dinner is served. The same manager remains your point of contact throughout the evening, so that the group never has to get up from the table over practical details. If the evening begins with dinner and continues at the games table, the move from one to the other happens without announcements.

Social games, played without stakes

At the table, social games are played without stakes. There is no betting and no playing for money. The room is not a casino and promises no winnings. Its purpose is the evening itself: the game, the conversation, the close circle.

Private evenings and small corporate events

The room takes 8 to 10 people, at a single games table. A private poker evening in Bucharest suits the end of a dinner, a birthday in a close circle or a team evening after a working day. The other formats are on the private events page.

When the evening has more guests, it is spread across the house's private rooms. The Cigar Lounge welcomes groups of at least 4 people, with access from 18:00, a cigar and a bottle of Macallan on the house, and butler service. The Black Jack Room, with restored interwar décor and a dedicated drinks service, takes up to 12 people.

When the poker table is only part of the evening, the house takes the whole group: 80 people for a seated dinner, 100 for a cocktail reception in the salons and 150 for a cocktail reception in the 800 m² courtyard. The working part, theatre-style or in conference format, takes up to 40 people.

On the day of your booking, the villa operates exclusively as a private event venue.

A room in a prime minister's house

The building permit for the house was issued in 1935, for the family of Gheorghe Tătărescu, Prime Minister in 1934–1937 and 1939–1940. It was designed by the architects Alexandru Zaharia and Ion Giurgea, in a Mediterranean style with Neo-Romanian elements. The building is a listed historic monument (LMI B-II-m-B-19435).

The fireplace in the salon and the door surrounds are the work of the sculptor Milița Petrașcu, a pupil of Brâncuși. A Fichet safe, unopened for decades, remains in the Premier's study. Arethia Tătărescu commissioned the Târgu Jiu ensemble from Brâncuși.

EKO GROUP took over the house in June 2024. The rooms are dressed with a selection from the holdings of the Rădulescu Art Galleries: more than 15,000 pieces from the 17th to the 20th century.

The room's price per person is shown above. When the poker evening is part of a larger event, such as a dinner or a company evening, the event is priced on request.
